DIY Hollywood Makeup Vanity Under $200 ๐Ÿ’„

by Christina Persaud

Every female dreams of the perfect makeup vanity. I’ve always wanted one because I always do my makeup at non-normal places with horrible lighting, and a girl can dream right? I had the space in my room, and I knew I already wanted it to look like the typical Hollywood vanity before even doing inspirational research. But I knew that the ready-made vanities like this run approximately $500-$600 and their was no way I was spending that. So, I began to do my research on YouTube and Pinterest for inspo because their are SO many ways of making your own. I chose my path, and then brought it to life as you see above.

Step 1: Purchases

  • (1) 10 PCS Crystal Glass Cabinet Knobs 30mm Diamond Shape – $13.99 from Amazon

  • (1) Hollylightโ„ข DIY Vanity Light Kit – $34.99 at Splendafy
    • This actually took 3-4 weeks to arrive, almost thought I got ripped off and should’ve bought it from Amazon instead because they don’t send a tracking number, or respond quickly to emails, but I love the product!
    • These LED lights are great because it has an on/off button for the lights and an easy USB cable that plugs into any USB Power Adapter for the wall.

  • (1) 18 Ct Glass Table Top Bumper Adhesives – $6.99 from Amazon
    • I actually found these at Big Lots for $2.99 but if you can’t, these work the same!
  • (1) Husky 15 in. Wood Handle Aggressive Tooth Saw – $9.99 at Home Depot
    • NOTE: This purchase isn’t included in my “Less than $200” because I already owned it.
  • (1) Bathroom Mirror – $34.99 at Ikea
    • My parents swapped out my old bathroom mirror to a fancier one so I just took theirs for FREE, but you can purchase a similar one here!
    • NOTE: This purchase isn’t included in my “Less than $200” because I already owned it.

Step 2. Assemble

  • 5 Drawer Letterpress Cube by Ashland
    ย 1. Assemble cabinet drawers
    • Easy Level (1 being easy, 5 being hard): Level 4 – this was actually the most easiest to assemble out of the entire project, just follow directions!
    • Materials Needed: Power drill, screwdriver, and a hammer.
  • Linnmon Tabletop
ย  2. Cut table top to fit
    • Easy Level (1 being easy, 5 being hard): Level 3 – this took a lot of strength.
    • Materials Needed: Saw
    • The table comes 59″ x 29″ but I needed it to be 27″ x 29″ because the size of the 5 drawer cabinets are 26.18″ x 15.7″ so I used a tooth-saw to cut it to the size I needed to fit on top of the drawers.
    • The material inside of this table top is compressed wood chips sandwiched between plastic veneer so it’s not too hard to cut through.
  • Diamond Shape Knobs
ย 3. Install knobs onto drawers
    • Easy Level (1 being easy, 5 being hard): Level 5 – this took a lot of strength, it’s so much harder to drill a hole into real wood cabinet drawers than cut a whole tabletop!
    • Materials Needed: Power drill

Step 3. Put The Vanity Together

  • Once cutting the table top to the size of the cabinet, put the adhesives on top of the cabinet.
  • Place the table top on top of the cabinets with one on each end.
  • Brace mirror on top of tabletop, leaning onto the wall.
  • Install the LED lights onto the mirror, nearby a plug.
    • Easy Level (1 being easy, 5 being hard): Level 1
    • The lights have sticker peel offs behind each one for easy install.
    • Plan accordingly where you will place each light prior to sticking.

(Optional) Step 4. Add Makeup Organizers On Vanity
